APA League play is back!
Well, at least part of it… APA league in South Carolina kicks off on June 1, 2020. NC, as you probably know, is still a bit away, but hopefully close to entering the next phase, and we will have info as to when Brunswick and New Hanover is able to start in the coming weeks.
We will finish the Spring session and then go straight into the Fall session for all divisions, skipping the summer session. Playoffs, Tri Cups and World Qualifier dates and set up will be scheduled and announced soon.
Other division league start dates:
8-ball Doubles SC divisions starts again on Friday, June 5
9-ball Doubles SC divisions starts again on Friday, June 12
*NC Doubles start dates will be announced as soon as we know more.
A few important reminders for everyone as we begin…
-Bring your own chalk and keep it with you throughout the match.
-Bring your own bridge head to add to your break cue as they will not be available at most locations.
-Bring your own hand sanitizer, even though the locations have all said they would provide it, just in case they run out. Not always easy for them to find it either…
-Do not shake hands before and after your match.
-Keep social distancing and Host Location house rules. Failure to do so, may bring suspension -from the league and location.
-We have also suggested that all locations have hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes available to clean off the rails between racks, but to be safe, make sure to bring some for the match
-We have been working with our locations to ensure they follow Social Distancing guidelines, and we expect all of you to do the same!
-Please do not vape inside, as it’s believed that the water droplets can carry further than breathing.
-And of course…if you don’t feel well, stay home!
If you have a player or two on your team that does not feel safe to come to league night, for the remainder of the Spring Session we will allow up to 2 replays, if necessary. This will be allowed by opposing team for now, regardless of the circumstances or if a player leaves the premise.
However, one particular player on the team may only replay once. In other words, one person cannot play three times in a match. Sometimes you just have to be okay and take the forfeit…
Please keep in mind, that the 23 rule is still in effect. (4/19, 3/15)
Also, if your team is short players or struggling to make numbers due to the Corona virus, please let us know and we will do what we can to help you get through this session.
Double Jeopardy teams:
You still cannot make the other team wait, so put up carefully. If a player is playing 8-Ball and they are halfway through their match and you need that same person to play a 9-Ball match or do a replay you will have to forfeit that match. The rule about making other teams wait is still in place.
Since we need to follow social distancing rules, there may be certain requirements that will affect the schedules in different divisions throughout our league area. Size of the location, number of teams, adhering to the 50% occupancy limits, etc., may force us to have to make adjustments to number of players allowed in the building/team. Also, since NC is going to be a few weeks behind, we may be forced to add or subtract weeks to the Spring schedule, in order to have both areas start at the same time. We will announce potential changes the week prior to play starting, as we have a meeting with our division reps scheduled for Sunday, May 24.
The rest of this spring session, we will be using paper score sheets, and we will start introducing electronic scoring in the Fall session in a few divisions. Make sure to watch the videos on scorekeeping on www.ccpoolplayers.com and download the app to your phone. The email and password will be the same as for your member services app. Once the session begins, the app will not be available to play around with until your division has it activated.
Finally, be respectful of each other and of your location, and we can continue to have a great time playing APA League. Hugs will need to be virtual for now…
We’re looking forward to seeing you all! ❤️
Ewa, Mitch, Toby and Nikki.
